Happy New Year everyone! Jianna had an awesome December and 1st Christmas. She was dedicated at church, went to her first Texas Tech football game, and sat on Santa's lap twice. She loved it all! She loved Christmas morning, especially the bags, paper and bows. Ha! But she made out like a bandit. I guess that's what happens when you are the first child and grandchild. Of course it was all very exhausting for a six month old. Thus the blank stare as she sits by her newly acquired possessions by the tree.
She is very outgoing and loves new experiences. Everywhere we go she stops people with her smile and they all say what a sweet baby. She is definately our greatest Christmas gift to each other, ever. We took many moments this Christmas to thank our Heavenly Father for Jianna and the joy she has brought to our home this past year.

Jianna is learning, learning, learning!

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas everyone! Well Jianna not only continues to grow but is rapidly learning how to do new things everyday. This month she has learned to eat solid foods like rice cereal, carrots, green beans, squash, sweet potatoes, peaches, pears bananas and applesauce. She loves sweet potatoes and peaches. So while we were eating grown-up sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving dinner she was eating her pureed ones. She has also learned to drink water from daddy's glass.
Along with her changing diet comes her changing physical abilities. She is learning to sit up and roll over as well. By Christmas we expect she will be sitting up, and maybe even pulling herself up, by herself. She loves to stand up but hates being on her tummy. So the minute you put her on her tummy she rolls over to her back. We are having so much fun with her. Can't wait for Christmas morning. Have a happy and safe holiday season.

Halloween/Fall 2008

Jianna has had a busy first fall. She went to pick apples at the apple orchard in September. We carved a pumpkin and went trick or treating on Halloween. She literally was a pumpkin that day. Then we went to the corn maize here in Lubbock and she helped mommie and daddie find their way through a 1.5 mile maize built out of a corn field. She saw her first barnyard animals that day also. She cried at the pigs but liked the turkeys. Hmmm. She had three pumpkin outfits. One was given from a friend. One was made by a friend. And one was bought by mommie and daddie. It's always good with a four month old to have extra outfits you know!

She weighed 15 lbs. 9 oz. at her four month check up last week and was 26 inches long. She is really trying to cut a tooth and so she has been a little fussy as of late but still smiles through it all. Except when we put her inside the carved out pumpkin. I guess that was too cold and slimy for a smile. She did get tuckered out too after trick or treating for three hours. But overall she is the best baby in the world.

Visit to Portland

We had a great time in Portland with everyone. Jianna is a great airplane traveler. She slept through most of the flights, including the takeoffs and landings. They loved her on the plane so much that she got to sit with the pilot and they gave her a first flight certificate.
She is now 14 weeks old and weighs 14 lbs. 7 oz. She is 25 in. long. She has discovered how to grasp toys and pull them to her mouth to chew on them. She laughs intensely at the ceiling fan and kicks water out of her bathtub during bathtime.
Uncle Larry made us a dvd of Stef when she was Jianna's age and it is hard to tell them apart. We even fooled Stef's mom. We are having sooo much fun watching her grow and develop. She is really a blessing and a treasure!

Well Jianna is 10 weeks old now. We took her to a sunflower field a couple weeks ago. Last weekend she took her first long car trip to Dallas. We drove at night and she slept most of the way.
At her 2 month old baby checkup she weighed 12 lbs. 5 oz. and was 23 3/4 in. long. We knew she was getting heavier.
She smiles all of the time. She discovered she has feet but she can't get to them yet. She holds her head up pretty good and is trying to roll over to get a toy. Boy they grow fast!
We will be in Portland two weeks from today. Hope to see many of you.
